restaurant reporter Michael Klein is following the creation of a restaurant from inception to opening. he'll use video and photos as part of his tools. this is the kind of thing we should be thinking about doing here... anything that unfolds over time makes for a natural story that can be told on the web and which lends itself to multimedia, blog updates and reader feedback. some possibilities:

a really interesting new business (not necessarily a restaurant)
a major green building project
a major city rehab/redevelopment project

Lancaster County Planning Commission is preparing to create green roofs on a few city buildings. This may be a good multimedia starter project - straightforward with a clearcut start and finish. Start with a talking heads video on a bare rooftop and take it from there. It would have enough layers - how it works, materials used, costs, energy savings, environmental impact - I will check with my contact and get a timetable.
